Abstract
"What is consumer electronics?? This kind of question is always trouble. You should avoid reading any column that attempts to define such a broad subject. These essays are always exercises in misleading readers. They introduce unconventional ideas but mask any gaps in logic by making the readers feel that they are more knowledgeable and more important than they had previously thought. When you find a column that begins by asking, ?What is consumer electronics?? you will quickly discover that it never really answers the question but is really talking about something else.
