  • Abstract
A novel highly birefringent photonic band-gap fiber (PBGF) with the squeezed modified honeycomb cladding is proposed. The polarization properties of the PBGF are investigated by using a full-vector finite difference method. Numerical results reveal that the phase birefringence of the PBGF could reach the order of 10-2, which is nearly two order of magnitude higher than that of conventional PMFs. The group birefringence could nearly reach the order of 10-1.
