Abstract
The potential of using fractional operators in the adaptive control and in Model Reference Adaptive Control (MRAC) in order to improve the plant dynamics with respect to response time and disturbances filtering ability, has been proven recently. However, the implications of introducing fractional operators still need to be studied. In this paper, we propose a fractional order adaptive control law for the liquid nitrogen level control for a 13C isotope separation plant. The assessment of the fractional order adaptive controller is made by numerical simulation.
