Abstract
In response to the needs of engineering technology students, the faculty of the Humanities, Social Sciences and Communication Department of the College of Applied Science at the University of Cincinnati have implemented programs to offer breadth and depth in communication. The author outlines the implementation of a curriculum that offers writing, speaking, and media use for students in a college of engineering technology. He describes how the program emphasizes the obligation of the technologist, especially the professional technical communicator, to interact effectively with nontechnical individuals.<>
