Abstract :
The explosive growth of the Internet and the convergence of most communication services to IP-based networks, Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) is a new means to enhance the speed, scalability and service provisioning capabilities for optimization of transmission resources. This paper focuses on the comparative analysis of MPLS network over a conventional network where a comprehensive simulation environment is created using NS2. We have shown that MPLS can achieve reliable explicit routing by deploying maximally-disjoint pre-calculated alternate paths results improved packet transmission in MPLS network.
