  • Abstract
For the purpose of rust prevention, automotive manufacturers usually adopt electro-deposition which contains a lead compound in a primer process. The main purpose of the electro-deposition coating´s lead compound is: (1) accelerate paint cure, and (2) restrain corrosion growth on the car body when the corrosion promoting substances such as water, oxygen, and chloride ions permeate through the film. Generally speaking, the rust preventive performance of the lead free electro-deposition coating has been thought to be poor. In cooperation with the paint manufacturers, we were finally successful in developing a new lead free electro-deposition coating that is equivalent to the rust preventive performance of the conventional electro-deposition coating
