Author_Institution :
IEEE Corp. Strategy & Commun., Piscataway
Abstract :
The IEEE initiative, technology discourses, seeks to engage the engineering and general public in an informed discussion about technology and public policy. It addresses ABET criteria for accreditation requiring linkage between engineering education and public policy concerns. It focuses on current IEEE educational resources for understanding the social and environmental implications of technology, including approaches for developing integrated online media packages for younger audiences, including video, Web pages and online communities for blogging and sharing materials. It seeks to utilize broadcast and Internet venues for global outreach.
