  • Abstract
Current educational presentations are commonly multimedia-based and with the realization of the mobile enterprise, accessing of such presentations stored on server from mobile devices will become increasingly common. This paper presents the results of our efforts with regard to the design and implementation of a client/server based mobile multimedia system for remote education. The system can automatically extract salient visual information from the screen of presenter´s computer and record audio in real time. Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL) is used to synchronize the extracted images and the corresponding audio. In parallel with functions just mentioned, the system also implements tag-based content search for specific segments of a presentation and users can efficiently locate their desired parts.
