Abstract :
An experimental setup has been developed to simulate the road salt deposit process on energized high voltage insulators under one set of winter conditions. The variation in accumulation rate of salt deposit density (SDD) with wind speed was established through systematic laboratory investigations. Tests were made with and without normal ac line voltage stress to explore the combined effect of wind and dielectrophoresis.
