Abstract
Though SMAC achieves energy efficiency by reducing idle listening, it is not adaptive to the traffic changes. Moreover, it is not secure against DoS attacks. In this paper, we propose a new protocol called OSASMAC (opportunistic secure adaptive sensor MAC). In OSASMAC, two nodes fix the appointment for scheduling a data exchange, while all other nodes sleep. In addition to keep the energy efficiency as the primary goal, the protocol has designed to be secure through adaptive sleep-wakeup schedules.
