  • Abstract
    An improved OFDM joint timing and frequency synchronization algorithm is proposed based on Schmidl algorithm aimed at the synchronization problem of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). It only requires one training symbol, and it makes an improvement to the method of symbol timing and integer frequency offset estimation in Schmidl algorithm. The estimation range of the proposed method is as large as the bandwidth of the OFDM signal, and the plateau in Schmidl algorithm is eliminated. The simulation results show that the improved algorithm has robust performance.
