Abstract :
Connection of the distributed generators to LV networks can raise some issues on the power quality and security. The paper discusses the technical impacts of small dispersed generation units on the LV network such as voltage profile, power flows, short-circuit, imbalance, harmonics and transmission of tariff signals. Three types of European LV networks are studied: rural, urban and near-urban. The impact of the point of common coupling, of the size and of the type of the DG on the power quality and the security is investigated.
