Abstract :
To improve the economic efficiency of flexible manufacturing system (FMS), the automation level of part family choice and the validity of decision-making method, a fuzzy choice method of part family was presented in basis of similarity measures of vague sets. In the process of the choice of part family, firstly the characteristic parameters were decided, and then the vague sets of all part families were got by normalization. Lastly the similarity degree between part family to be machined and perfect one was evaluated by similarity measure among vague sets. The bigger the value of similarity measure is, the more adapt to be manufactured by means of FMS for the part family. The validity and reasonability in choice of part family based on the similarity measures among vague sets are shown by an example.
