Abstract :
A method of signature authentication has been developed based on an autoregressive (AR) model representation. A signature is considered to be a shape that is short-time stationary but undergoes gradual or abrupt changes as the signature is traced from start to finish. Based on this premise the signature is divided into a number of segments, each of which is represented by a 2nd order AR model. With this representation, verification tests conducted on a database of almost 1000 signatures yielded excellent results with error rates of about 8%
