  • Abstract
    In the last 20 years, virtually no new developments in capacitor measurement technology in the substation have been seen. In the same period, the capacitor technology sector has introduced both the fuseless and the internally fused capacitor onto the market. This paper assesses the implication of the presence of these two technologies in the substation as well as their impacts on the capacitor-measuring device. As well, new features such as an expert system, capacitor data collection and software analysis are presented as the basic tools for implementing a reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) program for capacitor bank maintenance in the substation
