Abstract :
The scintillation pulses generated from PET detector contain the direct and original information of annihilation events such as Position, Energy, and Time. Aiming at improving timing resolution by the use of the digitally pulse processing, we analyze the shape and noise model that characterize the scintillation pulse of a typical detector as a LSO/PMT module and try to use the model to achieve the direct information. By averaging the amount of actual pulses, we obtain the initial model of pulse shape. To improve the model of pulse characterization, we continue our investigation by Monte Carlo simulation and actual experiment to build up a specific uniform pulse library. With our experiment platform, the scintillation pulses are generated by LSO/PMT module and recorded by oscilloscope. Base on the further result, we will optimize the characterization expression for LSO/PMT pulse and apply it to the all digital pulse processing for timing resolution.
