Abstract :
This paper deals with the problem of determining a boundary of small-signal stability performance of a power system in terms of active power loads selected at a few buses. The boundary could be used to schedule the operation of loads such that a desired small-signal stability performance is satisfied over a period of time. Such a scheme for direct control of loads from a central control center could be employed at times when the system is vulnerable. The underlying analysis in forming the above boundary is based on structured singular value (SSV or μ) framework. This paper presents the detailed development of the analysis framework and results on the Nordic32 test system.
