Abstract
The article outlines a conceptual cost-capacity model to evaluate the business profitability of the forthcoming wireless access heterogeneous network (WA-HetNet) which aims to maintain excessive user demands. For that purpose, we originally introduce a techno-economic analysis for the use of hierarchical cell structures and spectral efficiencies of the forthcoming advanced radio access technologies (RATs). We determine various cost-efficient capacity expansion strategies in order to properly dimension the production cost per transferred data unit for each of the considered RATs. The profitability is assessed by the comparison of EBIT margins.
