Abstract :
This study concentrates on two aspects of Pade´ Via Lanczos with an error bound (PVL-WEB). The first part of this work investigates the reduced order response as the point of expansion so is varied. It is commonly believed that an expansion point in the right half plane is superior to an expansion point either on the imaginary axis or in the left half plane; however, it is shown that this is not necessarily the case. Next, a new method for approximating a quantity required by PVL-WEB is given. The presentation is illustrated through applications to problems of interest to the electromagnetic compatibility engineer, namely the calculation of crosstalk from transmission line-type interconnects modeled using partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC) analysis. In addition, the voltage across a load driven by a planar multiconductor transmission line is evaluated. Finally, the new method for computing the quantity required by PVL-WEB is compared to the original method, as well as to the exact response of the system matrices calculated from LU decompositions
