Abstract :
The authors describe a modular three-phase 40 kVA inverter developed as part of a 200 kVA UPS (uninterruptible power supply) unit for the processing system in telecommunications networks. The main characteristics of this inverter are: PWM (pulse-width modulation) conversion at high frequency; wide DC supply voltage range; 50 Hz or 60 Hz operation; parallel operation with equal sharing; good diagnostic coverage, with selective cutout of malfunctioning units; avoidance of interference with other units operating in parallel; synchronization between inverters and with external source; operation with unbalanced loads of whatever type, with no loss of performance; no operational limits imposed by load power factor; high immunity to current harmonics rejected by load; and easy accessibility to all parts and easy maintenance
