Abstract :
Cut-off rate analysis of independent Rayleigh fading channels on each coordinates shows that the use of 64 signals are near optimal at 3 bits/signal for regular 2-D MQAM constellations. A method for the search of optimal MQAM TCM codes at a code rate equal to 3/6 is presented. An appropriate mapping is first constructed. In the second step we use a fast algorithm to find the optimal codes. This algorithm consists in computing the minimum distance between all coded signal sequences. Finally, the code search is completed by simulations
