This is one of five articles providing personal perspectives on gender diversity in computing. The Web extra at http://youtu.be/p0yiNYZouR4 is a video interview in which Deepak Kumar, a professor of computer science at Bryn Mawr College and the associate director for education and diversity in the Center for Science of Information, discusses the importance of gender diversity in computing with Alfred C.
