Abstract
A new pixel-based fusion approach for multi-focus images is proposed. To distinguish between the blurry and clear areas from the multifocus images, a block is defined for each pixel of images with the pixels as its center, and a blurring measure model is proposed to estimate the blurring levels of every point on the source images. Furthermore, to reduce the measure error on the points near the boundaries of the areas, the linear diffusion approach, known as the four point average method, is studied and applied. The proposed approach has been demonstrated by numerical experiments, and better fusion results have been achieved.
