  • Abstract
In this paper we utilize a light sensor device with a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) to sense the brightness of different environments and to automatically adjust backlight brightness to a level that allows the user´s eyes to be comfortable. Simultaneously this device also reduces the power consumption of the LCD panel. A common operating system defines the light sensor at present, and we add the FLC method to have the light sensor incorporate a flexible adjustment of the backlight brightness. Our structural design communicates with the light sensor by means of a low-power embedded controller (EC). By utilizing the light sensor this design detects the environment brightness, inputs the brightness value into the FLC and adjusts the backlight brightness with the EC according to the output value from the brightness duty range, 0-100%.
