Abstract :
Very different methods for supplying three-phase induction motors from a DC voltage source, and also for controlling torque and speed, have been developed in the past. In recent years, trajectory based vector control methods of the current space vector and the flux-space vector, respectively, were developed allowing control of the torque in a direct way without transforming the reference values to the stator reference frame. In this paper, an induction motor drive with direct torque control methods is described. The DSC software algorithms for the frequency inverter are performed with an TMS 320C50 DSP. TMS320-based control systems have numerous advantages. The high processing speed of the TMS320 family allows sophisticated control techniques to be used to build a high-precision control system. The control methods were proven on a 2.7 kW induction motor test stand. The stator flux and stator current trajectories are compared and the torque response times are presented. These experimental results confirm the excellent dynamic behaviour of the induction motor drive
