Abstract :
The acoustic noise radiated from direct torque controlled (DTC) induction motor drives is investigated and compared with those from space vector PWM (SVPWM) and random PWM (RPWM). It shows that, in contrast to SVPWM, which results in cluster harmonic spectra and tonal acoustic noise, DTC and RPWM system have similar spread spectrum feature, and atonal noise emissions, whilst an optimal flux level exists for minimal noise level
