Abstract :
This paper presents a modular AC-AC converter with high frequency AC link. It is constructed from connecting multiple current mode AC-AC converters with high frequency AC link in series at the input sides and parallel at the output sides (ISOP). This topology allows the use of low voltage power switch. Control strategy and operation principle of the converter are investigated. Four operation modes are analyzed. The control strategy ensures the proper sharing of the input voltage and the proper sharing of the output current among the ISOP AC-AC converter by directly controlling the input voltage. The converter is validated with experimental results. This ISOP AC-AC converter is especially suited for applications where the input voltage is relatively high and the output voltage is relatively low.
