Abstract
When we carry out rescue and support activities after an earthquake, it is important to understand traffic information over a wide area to establish vehicular routes. Since we can obtain information on a wide area rapidly from aerial images, studies using aerial images have been widely reported. However, the majority of such studies have involved the processing of aerial images of city areas. We propose a technique for extracting road-blockage areas in farm villages and mountainous districts after a disaster. The blockage areas are extracted by comparing satellite images taken before a disaster and aerial images taken after the disaster.
