Abstract :
This paper considers a version of the traffic assignment problem in which travel information may affect travelers´ choices. It focuses on the route choice impacts of pre-trip and en route travel messages. A framework is proposed for conceptualizing the key variables, relationships and assignment principle for this problem. Consistency between network conditions, messages and driver behavior is represented as a fixed point of a composite problem map. A small computational example illustrates the application of the ideas
