Abstract :
This paper provides a mechanism for allowing users to pay only for the time they are viewing the TV thus allowing for more granularities in billing structure for the consumer. The concept is similar to the “Talk-time” for cell phones. The paper uses DTH broadcast as the uses case for describing the solution based on the DVB-S2 specifications from ETSI. However, it can be applied to other broadcast technologies as well with suitable modifications.
