Abstract
An adaptive data enhancement scheme for seismic data is presented. The enhancer is an adaptive finite-impulse-response (FIR) filter whose impulse response is related to the autocorrelation (cross-correlation) function of the data channel(s). The scheme is referred to as the adaptive cross-correlation enhancer (ACE). ACE can be used to enhance single-component (vertical seismometer only) seismic data as well as three component seismic data. Three-component seismic data are obtained by having three seismometers, located in the same borehole, aligned along three orthogonal axes-vertical, north-south, and east-west
