Abstract :
To overcome the problems of current Web technology and to enable the intelligent Web services, the semantic Web was suggested, allowing the computer to understand and to exchange information freely between heterogeneous computer systems during the late 1990´s. Recently, OIL, DAML, SHOE and RD(S) are introduced as the markup languages and meta data model of semantic Web. However, these markup languages have their own flaws and disadvantages for ontology modeling of semantic Web. This paper analyzes markup languages for the semantic Web that have been developed so far, and proposes OOML (improved object oriented markup language) for ontology modeling and effective implementation of the semantic Web. The suggested language fits not only to the ontology modeling but also to the distributed environment of heterogeneous system. It is also capable of solving frequently occurring conflicts in the distributed environment, thus enhances reusability and expandability of the ontology.
