  • Abstract
    In the present day scenario the energy consumption awareness plays an important role as demand for huge amount of energy generation is growing day by day. This proposed model gives a solution to encourage people to know their energy footprint and take required action to reduce it. Here the proposed model comprises of hardware setup which includes smart meters and embedded hardware establishing a smart grid network. Parameters like voltage, current, units (KWH) etc. using smart meter are measured by Embedded Controller. The Controller collects data from smart meters and then sends all data to an internet based server. End user not only can access his consumption statistics but also can remotely control power supply to his household using Android App on his mobile device. The complete infrastructure containing embedded system hardware, software and android App is developed at the Embedded Systems lab at the "TIFAC CORE for 3G/4G Communication Technologies" and tested at National Institute of Science and Technology campus. All the data presented in this paper are actual data collected by the system present at NIST campus.
