Abstract :
In this paper ac/dc microgrid is implemented consisting of ac/dc loads and sources, operated in the grid connected mode and isolated mode. Multiple conversions like ac/dc, dc/ac can be reduced by ac/dc microgrid. Restructure of power system, increase in power demand and environment concerns are causing a focus on the distributed generation system with renewable energy. Photovoltaic system and wind turbine generation system are causing focus nowadays. Wind turbine generation system with ac loads are connected to the ac grid, photovoltaic system with dc loads are connected to the dc grid. Battery is connected to the dc bus, based on the power requirement battery bi-directional dc/dc converter charges or discharges the battery. Co-ordination control of all converters in dc and ac bus is performed for reliable transfer of power between ac and dc bus based on the load and source condition. A small ac/dc microgrid is modeled and simulated using Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results show that the coordination control is stable under various load and source condition.
