Abstract :
A novel detection scheme for mobile satellite CDMA (code division multiple access) personal communications is proposed. This dual-channel detector employing dual-channel signal processing can provide absolutely invariant system performance to Doppler shift of a carrier and local oscillator instability. In CDMA channels, the detector can provide good performance without pilot tone transmission and self-synchronizing circuits combined with poor transmission efficiency and demodulation loss. At C/N.Ws higher than 20 dB, the degradation as compared with a CPSK (coherent phase shift keying) detector with perfect carrier recovery is less than 25%. However, this degradation is significantly less than the loss incurred by pilot tone transmission, Doppler shift, and phase jitter
