Abstract :
There is increasing interest in the use of relaying for improving the performance of cellular systems. Although the techniques for simulating cellular systems are mature and well tested, the introduction of relaying can change the requirements of the simulation. Specifically, if the choice of route in one cell is affected by the interference due to surrounding cells, the effects of the behaviour of one cell can propagate beyond the range predicted from the effects of interference alone. This means that even if a large number of cells are simulated, edge effects can impact on all the cells being simulated. In this paper we consider how best to simulate these effects accurately in system level simulations. In particular, we consider the impact of introducing wraparound into simulations.
