Abstract
Wireless sensor networks are characterized by multihop wireless lossy links and resource constrained nodes. The aim of this paper is to provide a probability density function that completely characterizes the relationship between location and communication properties using non-parametric statistical techniques. Furthermore, we study individual link properties and their correlation with respect to common transmitters, receivers and geometrical location. The paper also shows the impact of lossy links on maximum achievable throughput and energy utilization. These can modeled as linear programming optimization problems.
