Abstract :
Integrated power systems of ships have a great difficulty in supplying pulsed loads, since the pulsed loads need a high power in a very short time period. Therefore, pulsed loads affect sustainability of the ship´s power systems in an adverse manner. Several methods have been studied that attempt to meet the required power of pulsed loads and thus reduce to the impact of pulsed loads on the ship´s power systems. However, these conventional methods have some drawbacks. Therefore, based on effectiveness of the conventional approaches, this paper purposes a more operative method for pulsed power management via an ultra-capacitor based system.
