Abstract :
A design for a software-configurable device suitable for herbivore control in agricultural conditions is provided. The ability to configure the device in software provides for collaboration between researchers, as well as future refinements. Reductions to the dynamic range of sensors include conversion from hemispherical to toroidal patterns and a focus on individual frequency ranges. Periodic sampling is also used to reduce the amount of data received from sensors. Strobe patterns and sounds are used to alarm herbivores, enticing the herbivores to leave the crop plot.
