Abstract :
This paper describes some of the demands modern and future telecom equipment, both cellular and “conventional”, will put on backup batteries and what demands have to be put on battery installations and maintenance for safe operation. The following-comments are based on the situation in Sweden with its 8.5 million people on a surface of more than 0.4 million km2 and with a climate where the temperature in the summer normally is about 20°C and sometimes up to 30°C
