Abstract
The performance of outdoor insulation greatly influences the reliable and safe operation of the electric power transmission and distribution systems. The two most commonly used accelerated aging tests are the application of rotating wheels and fog chambers. The paper first reviews the setup and the application of these two methods. The comparison of the two methods is a significant part of the paper. The fog chamber appears to provide more versatile test possibilities.
