Abstract :
This paper presents a compact integrated dualport diversity antenna for LTE (long term evolution) applications in future handheld devices. The antenna design merges two PIFAs (planar inverted F-shaped antennas) into one which not only occupies less areas, but also doesn´t require separation of two individual antenna elements while still maintaining good isolation and diversity characteristics. The proposed design can be utilized in compact wireless communication handheld devices to provide diversity signals or act as a duplexer allowing the receive and the transmit signals to be well isolated. A typical design, which armed at 2.6 GHz LTE/WiFA application bands (2.5 to 2.7 GHz), is implemented. The simulated and experimental results including S-parameters, radiation patterns and signal correlation have demonstrated the validation of the proposed antenna design for future multiple antenna mobile devices.
