Abstract :
In this paper, the authors discuss about the heat environment investigation conducted in Kanazawa City, Japan, its results, and the system developed through this investigation and research. Kanazawa City is a sightseeing city famous as a castle town, located in the Japan Sea side of the main land of the Japanese archipelago. In this study, the authors developed the Kanazawa Environmental Temperature Observation System, and have been observing the ground air temperature in the summer season every year since 2003. Its results indicate that inside the observation area, there is a difference between the distribution of the regions where daytime air temperature is high and the distribution of the regions where nighttime air temperature is high. This result can be utilized for improving the heat environment in Kanazawa City, and also it is effective as a tool for environmental education to explain land utilization and heat environment to pupils and students in the regions. Therefore, the results of the authors´ research are now available as teaching tool contents.
