Abstract
This paper presents an approach for modeling and optimization of the geometry of a flat plate heat sink using genetic algorithm (GA). The responses studied were electromagnetic emitted radiation and thermal resistance of the heat sink. The inputs to GA are the regression equations for predicting the electromagnetic emitted radiations and thermal resistance of the heat sink. The factors considered for optimization are the length and width of the heat sink, fin height, base height, number of fins and fin thickness.
