Abstract
The sensor networks has been widely used in health, military, home and research, and the emerging applications need a software infrastructure to enable the rapid data acquisition from multiple, heterogeneous sensors. Until now, different sensor networks work isolated and can not form an interoperable system. Sensor Web is a revolutionary idea towards achieving a collaborative platform by integrating the sensor network with the Web for better collection, fusion and distribution of the sensor data. However, as the researchers come from the diverse disciplines, they give different definition on sensor Web from different perspectives. In this paper, we give a survey on the state of art of sensor Web and classify the current research directions. After comparing diverse concepts and projects, we list some open research issues and hope they could spark new development in this field.
