Abstract :
OEMs of telecom equipment use an architecture of racks and parts to assemble equipment, within which additional capacity and functionality are accommodated by inserting circuit packs into racks. A case study at Alcatel USA adapts the same architecture to the development of NMS agents and managers using Java and Web technologies. The goal of the design is to enable an OEM to release control software as parts auxiliary to its hardware counterparts and consequently to enable a system integrator to assemble an agent or a manager according to a specific customer´s requirements with a minimum of programming effort
