Abstract :
The main purpose of this project is to investigate the stresses caused by the external disturbances and to suggest possible design improvements. To investigate the effect of those HF pulses a complete test system has been developed. This test system has the possibility to simulate the measured HF pulses and to add them to the 50 Hz mains waveform. After applying a series of HF pulses to the test object, the possible degradation of the insulation is checked by measuring the partial discharges (PD) and the voltage level at which they occur
