Abstract :
The purpose of this paper is to report the authors´ preliminary efforts to calibrate and intercompare interferometric SAR and OSCR HF radar measurements of ocean current fields collected during the ONR High-Resolution Remote Sensing Experiment in June, 1993. This experiment acquired both strip-map and interferometric SAR imagery from a region that contained interesting oceanographic features where many of the in situ sensors were located. Simultaneous SAR imagery at P-, L-, and C-band can provide somewhat different information about the oceanographic features and the air-sea interaction. A comparison between surface currents derived from the INSAR phase maps with those obtained from OSCR has shown good qualitative agreement. The authors are presently working to achieve a quantitative comparison between both of these remote-sensing techniques as well as with with measurements from in situ current meters
