  • Abstract
    Alternatives to vented lead-acid batteries for substation duties are presented. Currently available battery options include valve-regulated lead-acid and nickel-cadmium. Future options include nickel-metal hydride, lithium-ion and lithium polymer. Advantages and disadvantages are discussed for each type, as they relate to this application
