Abstract :
Due to the appearance of the next generation network, the network capabilities have been changed from network centric to service centric architecture, which is able to provide converged services such as voice and video services on the same platform. However, since the IP-based converged network is a complicated infrastructure to manage and operate using existing management systems, one of the major issues is how to ease the operational complexity to contribute to reduction of operational expenditure (OPEX) and improvement of customer satisfaction. To address this issue, this paper proposes an extension of an integrated resource information model that is capable of end-to-end resource management from network resource information to application resources and service/customer resources based on the information framework (SID) defined by the TeleManagement forum. In addition, we propose the next generation fault localization mechanism, which enables easy identification of not only the root cause of a failure, but also the extent of the impact of a failure due to both network failure and performance degradation, by utilizing interworking mechanism and scanning algorism, According to the concept, we have successfully demonstrated the proposed fault localization mechanism based on the integrated resource information model using a network testbed by cooperating the resource management system and the fault management system.
